Kachere Development Programme-USADF Partnership

Kachere Development Programme has advanced its partnership agreement with the United States African Development Foundation (USADF) to promote the establishment of the Company that will be owned by Kachere Development Programme. The company will be called Kachere Development Enterprise (KDE) which will operate as the Business Unit of the organisation.

Having gone through the process of evaluation and assessment, we have designed a USD92,555 funding to support the Kachere Cooking Oil Production Capacity Building Project which will see more than 1,306 smallholder women farmers benefit from our seed revolving fund. The revolving fund will provide available market for smallholder farmers sunflower and groundnuts which which will be used for the cooking oil processing.

The Operations Assistant Grant of ZMW 555,125 (USD92,520.83) will run from October 2014 to September 2015 after which trhe business will ualify to the second phase with a further business grant of USD250,000 (ZMW 1,500,000) to grow the business. This is a greater achievement which will enhance sustainability for our organisation.

 

Additionally, Do Good Lab, a small funding organisation based in San Francisco, USA has approved a USD10,000 (ZMW 60,000) for a mill project. All these equipment and machinery will fall under the Business Unit of KDP so as to enhance profitability which supporting poverty reduction strategies among vulnerable communities of Chipata, Petauke and Mambwe who are in the first phase of the roll out program.
